On January 17, 2008 Maine Lakes Conservancy Institute Lake Science Educators showed up for a dam building exercise. Nobleboro Central School eighth graders were treated by MLCI's Rex and Phil to an hour long dam building extravaganza. Students either built a human made dam or a beaver dam and then modeled water interaction. The dialog was rich around the environmental impact of both beaver and human construction. Students had lots to say about beaver dams in Nobleboro and making sure that forestry activity does not harm the very important local watersheds.
Thanks to Rex and Phil for building a "dam" good experience......
