About Us
Nobleboro Central School is a small K-8 school located on Maine's
midcoast between Wiscasset and Rockland. There are around 160 students
in its nine grades and there is a strong sense of community. Nobleboro
is a town rich in water resources. There are three lakes: Damariscotta
Lake, Pemaquid Pond and Duck Puddle Pond. Nobleboro also has a
connection to salt, or estuarine, water. The falls leading out of
Damariscotta Lake empty into the Great Salt Bay at Damariscotta Mills.
Great Salt Bay feeds the Damariscotta River which eventually leads out
to Pemaquid Point and the Gulf of Maine. The dam creating the falls is
also the site of a well known anadromous fish run. Every spring there is
a spectacular alewife run up the falls fishway into Damariscotta Lake.
According to Nobleboro town law and historical practice, town widows
still get part of the alewife harvest delivered to their doors.
Nobleboro lakes also provide a sense of family and tradition. Shores
are rich with cabins, summer homes, camps and a campground or two.
Locals, people from other parts of Maine and folks from away spend many
summer days on the serene shores of Nobleboro Lakes.
