The partner schools of the Maine Lakes Conservancy Institute listed below represent the geographic and cultural diversity of Maine .

We cover the state-from the Atlantic coast to Canada , and east to bordering New Hampshire .  Just as the regions vary, so do the lakes and their issues.

As we grow we look forward to welcoming more schools onto the Students' Portal. We invite you to explore the site to learn more.

For information on how to become a partner school please contact MLCI’s Lake Science Educator, Rex Turner , at rturner@mlci.org or 207-563-5253.

Nobleboro Central School
The Nobleboro Central School, located in the midcoast region of Maine, is close to Damariscotta Lake and Pemaquid Laketwo popular year round and summer vacation lakes.

Ken Williams has taught 6th, 7th and 8th graders at Nobleboro Central School for 21 years and has been a partner teacher with the Maine Lakes Conservancy Institute for five.  He is also a Board member for MLCI.  Living on a small lake in Damariscotta with his wife and three children for over 15 years gives clear reason for him to “pinch himself”every day he wakes up and looks out the window over Muddy Pond.  His passion for fresh water ecosystems has grown over time as he has watched his own children go from waders and splashers to kayakers, sailors and young ecologists.
He is a past president of the Pemaquid Watershed Association, active in the Maine Education Association, an avid backpacker and traveler.  He leads Nobleboro Central School eighth graders on annual wilderness trips.  He hopes to use the MLCI partnership with Nobleboro Central School students to help build a generation of stewards for Maine lakes.
